Workshop Intro/excerpt
A lively and interactive workshop – you will discover new understandings of power and come away ready to start building power in your communities, from scratch.
Workshop Description
What is power? Who holds it? Where does it come from?
We often think that power sits with politicians or businesspeople in closed off rooms far away, but what if we can all learn ways to build and harness power to make those same people act in our collective interest?
There are many theories and understandings of power. In this workshop we will build a collective understanding of power, where power sits in society, and how collective action can build our power to create a world of equity and abundance for all.
Community organising is the work of bringing people together to take action around their common concerns and overcome social injustice. Community organisers reach out and listen, connect and motivate people to build their collective power to create a better and more just future for all.
